BioAnapest: two unaccented syllables followed by one accented syllable, the opposite of a dactyl: --/. Anapest comes from two greek words, ana (up) and the verb paio (to strike or hit). The anapest moves "up" or "toward" the "struck" or accented syllable: sha-da-BOOM
